A New Dream

Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another.
— John Dewey

We are coming to an end of this month's Swimsuit Season Countdown. How are you doing? Did you reach your goals? Try something new? Drinking more water?

Small change #10- Review, adjust, start over

So, you have reached your goal- now what? The best line in Disney's Tangled sums it all up, "You get to go find a new dream." A new dream. How exciting! But before we jump ahead, we need to take a step back and look at our progress.

The REVIEW portion is an essential part of the goal-setting process. Did you make your goal? Was it set too low or too high? Did you honestly try your best? What methods worked and what did not? How do you feel? After reviewing your progress, you can then make necessary ADJUSTMENTS. For example, Steve's goal was to get his running back to pre knee surgery pace. Although he gave a valiant effort, he is not quite at his former pace. Was his goal too ambitious? In his case, no. But, his methods for achieving this goal may have been. His knee hasn't gone through intensive training in a while and eventually the knee said "no" when Steve said "go." Now, while striving to reach his desired pace, he will allow for greater recovery time between workouts. In addition to this adjustment, he can then set forth a new goal. A new dream.

Congratulations on all your hard work! If you made your goal- great! If you didn't- keep trying, never give up! Review, adjust, and start over. The cycle never ends, we should always strive to be better, to reach for the stars! What's your new dream?
