While slow and steady may win the race, having patience is easier said than done. In a world of instant gratification, we can be easily frustrated when progress is slow. But, when it comes to losing weight and making changes towards a healthier lifestyle, slow is the way to go. Steve and I have been involved in weight division sports our entire lives, and we know all too well that the faster the weight comes off...the quicker it comes back on! A great way to survive the wait is with our latest small change.
Small change #8- Reward yourself
Jeans fit better? Pat yourself on the back! "Traded up" all week? Go buy yourself something nice! Lost weight? Give yourself a gold star! Ask any parent or teacher- positive reinforcement and incentives are great ways to reward a job well done. Sometimes we let negative thoughts fill our minds- "I ONLY lost half a pound." What? That's great! Keep it up and you will lose 26 pounds by the end of the year! Continue to remind yourself of the positive benefits of these small changes, and reward yourself when you stick to them. Go ahead, you deserve it!
